POSITION SUMMARY:

The Vice President Food & Beverage Development, Europe will reportto theSenior Vice President, Operations and Lodging Services, Europe.The purpose of this position is to provide strategic direction, as well as day-to-day decision support to the overall Food & Beverage discipline.This position is responsible to provide innovation and strategic leadership to global, continent and brand projects and initiatives.This position is responsible to develop and lead new revenue generation opportunities. This position is responsible for identifying, operationalizing, and executing profitable strategies as they relate to areas such as event management, restaurant and bars, and culinary.The position requires close collaboration and influence of executive leadership in the creative strategy, brand management and market organizations to ensure strategic alignment; as well as leadership through others to ensure timely delivery of profitable programs.

SCOPE :

The Vice President Food & Beverage Development, Europe provides support / is responsible for all franchised and managed hotels in Europe

Location requirements:The Vice President Food & Beverage Development, Europe is to be located at the Europe Office Eschborn, Frankfurt, Germany

Language Requirements:High proficiency (speaking, reading and writing) in English is required.

Travel Requirements:There is an expected 75% business travel requirement.

EXPECTED CONTRIBUTIONS:

Provide leadership to hotel management teams to successfully implement initiatives and programs. Ensure all hotels operate with respect to European continent and corporate Food & Beverage outlet programs. Monitor overall performance of F&B outlets and provide action planning as needed. Coordinate task force as needed. Assist property management with execution of restaurant/bar concept documentation to ensure concept integrity and significantly improve guest experience, revenues and profits. Ensure property teams are fully fluent in all food safety procedures and direct certification classes to meet the needs of the European continent. Oversee technical F&B training for the European continent. Communicate creative, quality, and financial Food & Beverage expectations to properties. Ensure continual development of diverse, high-caliber talent which makes a strong positive impact on the organization. Maintain strong and professional working relationship with Rooms/Retail/Leisure, Procurement, IR, Engineering, and Loss Prevention. Provide input to the Corporate Center of Expertise to ensure global strategies meet the needs of the European continent and pull through new programs/products/services to ensure successful local implementation. Develop strategic professional relationships with F&B product and service vendors.Assist in the development and coordination of outside licensing and franchise relationships. Ensure consistency in messages (written, visual, audio) that are generated for products/services and ensure that those messages support Marriott International s Food & Beverage strategies. Use technology effectively to communicate and influence in a timely, high-impact manner.

Resource Allocation - Manages and assigns all resources to projects within: Restaurants and Bars, Culinary, and Event Management. Governs the flow of new initiatives to manage resource availability and capacity.

Build Capability - Provide strategic direction, guidance, and planning for the Marriott Lodging multi-brand food & beverage discipline. Establishes and aligns associates on the vision and mission of the F&Bdepartment; as well as the objectives of continent and brand initiatives. Leads continent F&B concept development working closely with Global Design.

Manage Relationships -Acts as the direct point of contact for all stakeholders seeking development-specific product or service support relating to:Restaurants and Bars, Culinary, and Event Management.Serves as the key entry point for GOS food & beverage development teams. Acts as the continent s subject matter expert regarding multi-brand food & beverage to all constituencies (external as well as internal). Develop strategic professional relationships with external boards, organizations, and suppliers to help achieve business strategies; represents Marriott Food and Beverage at key internal and external venues. Maintain close and productive working relationships with creative strategy, sales, revenue management and brand leaders

Discipline Development Strategy-Identify, champion, and develop the continent s strategic multi-brand food & beverage focus. Establishes, communicates and drives market and brand alignment with discipline strategy. Represents the Food & Beverage discipline to Market operations leaders. Guides and reinforces the practice of core design and development processes to maximize efficiencies and ensure consistent work cycles within Food & Beverage. Develops operational strategies that align with and support brand positioning in the areas of culinary, restaurant and bars, and event management.Establishes profit potential of strategies. Ensures broad business support for strategic food & beverage initiatives. Participate in the concept development for multi-brand food & beverage as well as other methods for delivery of food & beverage services and products to customers. Direct the development of tactical and strategic plans for food & beverage disciplines. Identify business opportunities and risks by keeping abreast of competitor, industry, economic, and internal information trends.Solicit input from diverse sources in order to make sound business decisions. Leverages processes to systematically review the satisfaction of relevant stakeholders (customers, owners, franchisees, associates, and vendors) with the food & beverage discipline and take action to correct problems and improve satisfaction, if necessary. Ensures close alignment between a new/existing business case and the end design of a product or service

Balanced Scorecard Results:Develops strategies and executes activities to drive financial results, guest satisfaction, human capital index and market share. Drive revenue and improve profitability of Restaurant & Bar outlets. Enhance products and services appropriately for all brands to build customer loyalty. Develop talent and drive associate satisfaction. Develop effective business partnership with property ownership to develop solutions that meet the expectations and create value for both owners and Marriott International. Demonstrate a thorough understanding of the lodging business (hotel operation, industry drivers, challenges, competitors, MI s position in the global marketplace) and cutting edge Food & Beverage trends to unveil opportunities for growth

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Professional Certification

BA/MBA(or an equivalent)

8-10 years of leadership experience in the Food & Beverage discipline

Track record of creating profitable, operational, and cutting edge Food & Beverage solutions.Experience leading projects through a highly matrixed and relationship-based organization.Exceptional project leadership skills- a proven track record of initiating and championing new concepts through activation. Strong understanding and application of managerial concepts and techniques in areas such as idea creation, employee development, coaching, cross-team effectiveness, and project/resource management. Strong ability to manage multiple stakeholders with competing priorities. Leadership skills that manage a balance between creative innovation and operational feasibility. Exceptional skill in problem solving and leveraging resources to optimize department capabilities. Well connected to Food and Beverage industry trends, research resources, and creative services vendors.
