Develops and maintains the overall procurement systems and procedures for the group; may apply to both the region and the individual hotels, to cover but not limited to, procurement policies and procedures, pricing management, vendor management, tender management, quality assurance, ethical practices, with a focus to create an effective price / value/ quality relationship for all products purchased, or recommended.
Leads the Procurement Operations/Business for (GC/APEC). To include sourcing and reviewing potential new products as may benefit the group and recommends the same to management when relevant.
Takes a lead in establishing ethical working practices, across all procuring functionaries and vendors, through regular review and updating of, the agreed MIPs and policies as relates to the procuring function.
Maintains Approved Products and Vendor listings, including online (BirchStreet-BSS) and offline catalogue with specifications and requirements
Participates in formulating a strategic plan in the development of new brand and re-launch of existing brands
Co-ordinates with Finance and IT in researching on new technology to develop and appropriate operations systems for Procurement(STACY/SMART/BSS)
Oversight of all Cluster Activity and accountable for performance
Leads Market Training for the discipline as required
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Is responsible to drive the philosophy of the best price, for the best quality to obtain the best cost value in all purchasing transactions.
Identifies opportunities, qualifies and negotiates with potential suppliers to Marriott s 30 Brands
Identifies opportunities, qualifies and leads team to negotiate Preferred Continent contracts for suppliers with whom the group will work with, but on an on exclusive supplier basis.
Identifies opportunities, to grow spend of Global Contracts.
(In both of the above, recommendations are to be qualified based on ethical practices, price, quality, after sales service, reliability and other criteria as maybe relevant).
Monitors and evaluates the performance of key suppliers to Marriott.
Actively reviews new product lines relevant to the industry, through internet research, trade magazines and attendance at selected procuring shows / events.
Partners with the Brand/Ops to identify and recommend new product lines in the context of their suitability for the different brands within Marriott
Arranges for presentation of brand standard products for review with key senior leaders as needed and appropriate.
Develops and maintains a data base of relevant suppliers in the region; listing current key contacts.
Conducts factory site reviews as might be agreed to assess potential new vendors and / or to monitor existing suppliers for compliance to agreed quality standards.
Provides assistance and support to hotel purchasing teams as maybe needed, in areas such as but not limited to training, local purchasing (Clusters), CSR, ethical practices, tendering process, cost management etc.
Provides guidance and support to hotels and the 5SU Manager in the pre-opening phase as relates to management and execution of the agreed budget (OSE/5Su), to ensure timely delivery of items and maximization of savings via group contracts, where applicable.
Ensures the BirchStreet eProcurement partnership is maximized in the region. Ensuring the all new Hotels are extended the proper supply relationships and receive the correct pricing.
Updates, conducts and reviews the Region Performance, as directed by Vice President Procurement.
Actively participates in and leads recruitment and talent development for the division/department, to meet both current and future needs.
Is a MIP Ambassador at all times and ensures supply chain integrity in consideration of the Marriott culture, vision, mission and core values at all times.
Analytical and detail oriented.
Strong negotiation skills.
Research oriented (new products).
Well organized and good leadership skills.
Good command of both written and spoken English
Bachelor degree in Business or Procurement Management or equivalent required.
Preferable with the membership of Professional Organisation.
10 years of progressive Procurement management experience.
Luxury lodging / hospitality industry knowledge preferred.
Experience with pre - openings
